If you look close you can see the pictographs carved on the rocks

This is a scale model mock up of the Pit houses that were built in the hill on the  picture below notice the little black square holes in the top of the dwellings. These served two purposes, they were the entrance to the houses and also where the smoke from the fires inside the dwellings would come out. I believe these dwellings were not located until the 1980's as they were building I-70 from Fort Cove to Richfield.

This round hill in the center of the picture held the dwellings the freeway passes at the bottom of the hill

This is a sample of the Pottery that was found in the dwellings intact, it seems that some of the dwellings were built on top of old dwellings, Notice the partial curved clay wall in the picture, Behind the wall was about a foot square hole that served as a air duct the partial curved wall was designed to get the air to swirl and cause the smoke from the fire to go up through the square hole in the top of the house, this design would make it so the house didn't fill up with smoke. A ladder was in the center of the room and went up through the hole for entry to the dwelling.

Notice the fire pit in the center of the dwelling and the ladder right by it going to the top of the dwelling the four center support post are seen in this picture and the structure was built of limbs about 1 inch in diameter and then covered with about 8 to 10 inches of clay and baked in the sun. notice the bow and arrows and black cooking pot. Also is a weaving frame-work for making blankets and clothes in the back of the picture

These stones were used to grind corn, They weren't the best material for grinding for the stone is soft and sand would get into the ground corn and wear out the Indians teeth.  It was found that this was a problem as they examined some of the skeletal remains
